The Meldpunt Discriminatie receives complaints regarding discrimination and treatment. We support you, investigate, mediate and deliver a strategy and solution for your problem. Because every complaint is different, our approach is different each time. Sometimes it is enough to register the complaint, but in many cases a more involved approach is required. The Meldpunt Discriminatie works with a client-based approach. Contact us if you have any questions about this.

Our methodology derives from the Algemene Wet Gelijke Behandeling (General Law on Equal Treatment /AWGB). This law contains 12 grounds of discrimination, outlining on which bases discrimination is not permitted. Does your complaint fall under one of these grounds? Then we will work with you to find out if your case involves discrimination or whether you could be better helped by another organisation. If you have any doubts, please contact our consultants. They would be glad to help you further.

If you have filed a complaint (through the telephone, email or the online form on our website) you will hear from us within 5 business days.

If you live outside our area of operation you can find your relevant support centre on You can also download the ‘Meld Discriminatie Nu’ -app in the App Store or via Google Play. If you have any trouble, please contact us. We will refer you or send your complaint to our colleagues throughout the country.

Our services are always free of charge. It is our legal duty to deal with clients and to register complaints.

You can also file a report. It is important for us to know what kinds of discrimination occur and where. A report can also be an incentive for us to investigate (through practical tests, for example). Based on the findings we may or may not proceed to action.

All reports are registered in ADV-net, the national registration system. To prevent discrimination it is important that we know what kinds of problems are occurring. Unfortunately, not all cases are reported or even recognised. As such, our society runs a risk: you might even say that if a report is not filed, it appears as if the problem does not exist.

We do not have any lawyers in our service. If necessary, we can wholeheartedly recommend lawyers that we keep good contacts with.

The Meldpunt Discriminatie Regio Amsterdam is an independent foundation aimed at combating and preventing discrimination and influencing societal processes that lie at the foundation of discrimination. That is also our legal duty. We do work very closely with the municipalities within our area of operation, but we are not employed by them.

What does Meldpunt Discriminatie do?

The Meldpunt Discriminatie Regio Amsterdam (Regional Center for Discrimination Amsterdam) is the anti-discrimination bureau for the region of Amsterdam. We take every case equally seriously.
