Frequently Asked Questions

Below you can read our most frequently asked questions. Is your question not yet answered? Feel free to contact us at 020 - 638 55 51 or send an email to discriminatie@mdra.nl.

The Discrimination Hotline handles complaints about discrimination. We support you, investigate, mediate and provide a strategy and solution to your problem. Because every complaint is different, the approach to every complaint is also different. Sometimes just registering the complaint is sufficient, but often it involves a more extensive effort on our part. Meldpunt Discriminatie works with a client-oriented approach. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.

Our approach stems from the General Equal Treatment Act (AWGB). It lists 12 discrimination grounds on which discrimination may not take place. Does your complaint fall under one of these grounds? Then we will help you find out whether your complaint is related to discrimination or whether another organization can help you better. If in doubt, please contact our consultants. They will be happy to help you further.

Once you have made a report (by phone, email or using the report form on our website), we will contact you within 10 business days.

If you live outside our service area, you can contact us via discrimination.com find out which Discrimination Hotline in your area you can contact. You can also download the "Report Discrimination Now" app in the App Store or via Google Play. Not quite getting there? Feel free to contact us. We will refer you or send your complaint to our colleagues around the country.

Our service is free of charge. It is our legal duty to handle and record complaints.

You can also make a report of this. It is important for us to know which forms of discrimination occur where. A report can also be a reason for an investigation (for example, a practical test). Based on the investigation results, further action is taken or not.

All reports are registered in the national registration system ADV-net. In order to prevent and combat discrimination, it is necessary to know what problems are involved. Unfortunately, not all cases are reported or even recognized. This puts you at risk as a society: you could say that if a report is not made, it is as if the problem does not exist.

The Discrimination Hotline employs Discrimination Counselors. We do not employ lawyers. However, if necessary, we can warmly refer you to lawyers with whom we have good contact.
